Autumn/Winter 2009

Iain MacPhail and Jack Delaney in recording a tribute to Andrew Rankine,  for Logan MacGregor,  to be released on Highlander Music.

Former Bhundu Boy Rise Kagona in the studio laying down some tracks with Champion Doug Veitch and Culture Clash.

Holy Bartender, Re-Generation and Imperial Green have recently completed EPs funded by the YMI Demo Fund. A big thanks to all and an extra special pat-on the-back for Gavin Wiltshire who has done a superb job as engineer/producer of the project.

Tim Kliphuis and Nigel Clark have been in throughout September and October mixing their stunning new album which includes Roy Percy and Dave Newton.

Robin Jones(Aliens/Beta Band) to start a project with Lemon Jelly man Fred Deakin - watch this space for developments.

Meanwhile Dave from the Cafe has featured on sax for the current Simply Health TV advert from Fred Deakin's Airside company.

Spring/Summer 2009

Recording at the Cafe in June - jazz violin virtuoso Tim Kliphuis along with his band including Nigel Clark, Roy Percy and Dave Newton.

Sunshine on Leith - the album of the stage play by Dundee Rep- now on sale in all good record shops and still playing regularly on Radio Clyde

Rob Hall and Chic Lyall just putting the finishing touches to a great new album.

Watch out for new releases by Chris Clark - solo album recorded at the Cafe over 2008/9 in all good record shops from May this year- and also by Michael Clark and his band Acoustic Butterfly.

Recorded live at the Blue Lamp by the Sound Cafe mobile and mixed and mastered by Neal Richardson and Dave Gray,  'Live at the Lampie ' features Lianne Carroll and Brian Kellock on stunning form in their first recorded collaboration. Released mid May on Splash Point Records this is a must buy for 2009.

Vicky Fifield and Devotion release their new album on the 20th April. Recorded at the Sound Cafe during 2008 this is a release through the Fire Collective allowing artists full control of their rights.

The Kings of Cheeze have been working hard in the studio as they mix three new songs: 'Tales of the Riverbank', 'Tryin' To Start Out Clean', and 'La Vita Bueno'. They've also been rehearsing for an upcoming gig at the Carlops Village Hall with Culture Clash featuring guitarist and Bhundu Boys founder Rise Kagona and Scottish guitarist Champion Doug Veitch. Storyteller Michael Williams has just completed his CD entitled 'How Bear Lost His Tale and other stories'. Williams and Sound Cafe producer Dave Gray invite interested storytellers and singer-songwriters to contact them at the Sound Cafe to enquire about their next CD project. They can help you plan your project and guide you through the process from beginning to end.

Rory and Calum MacDonald from Runrig were in recording for the day.

Two tracks from the new Aliens album--Luna--were recorded at the Cafe including the new single 'Magic Man'!

Tim Young just finished mixing the new Bombskare album as well as recording and mixing the latest Aberfeldy single at the Cafe.

New Brian Kellock album, featuring Julian Arguelles, was tracked, mixed and mastered at the Sound Cafe and released on Thick-Skinned Records.

Singer-songwriter Andi Neate has finished and released her new album, 'Crows, Rooks and Ravens'.

Fannatica have laid down 5 tracks on their new album and are just about to move to the mastering stage.

The Dave Milligan Trio have just finished tracking for their new album. Watch out for it!

OUT ON THE ROAD . . . Dave Gray and Stuart Wilson have just finished a live recording of the Edinburgh Schools Symphony Orchestra.

Stoo and Dave have also nearly finished with the new Chris Clark album . . . it's going to be a cracker!!

The award-winning folk band Give Way are about to record an album for Greentrax with the legendary Phil Cunningham producing.
